UPCOMING NORTH MISSISSIPPI EVENTS | FALL 2026

If you think you have to cross the state line into Memphis to find something to do this fall, North Mississippi's calendar might surprise you.

October brings fairs, concerts, farmers markets, live theater, community events, Halloween activities and more across DeSoto County, Oxford and surrounding North Mississippi communities.

And if you're considering MOVING to North Mississippi, these events can serve another purpose.

They're an excuse to get out of the car, spend time in the communities you're considering and experience the area beyond the houses you find online.

Here are some upcoming North Mississippi events worth adding to your fall 2026 calendar.

MID-SOUTH FAIR
October 1–11, 2026
Landers Center | Southaven, Mississippi

One of the region's biggest fall traditions returns to Southaven October 1 through October 11.

The Mid-South Fair brings the classic fair experience to the Landers Center area, making this a great opportunity to spend some time in Southaven while you're there.

For anyone considering relocating from Memphis into DeSoto County, Southaven is especially interesting because it sits directly across the Tennessee-Mississippi state line.

A fair day can easily become a Southaven scouting day.

Drive through neighborhoods, explore the area's shopping and restaurants, look at a few homes and then head to the fair.

HERNANDO FARMERS MARKET
Saturdays in October
Hernando, Mississippi

Hernando's Farmers Market continues through October, with markets currently scheduled for October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.

This is exactly the kind of event I recommend to someone considering a move.

Why?

Because you're experiencing the community on an ordinary Saturday rather than simply driving through it.

Hernando is the county seat of DeSoto County, and its historic downtown area gives the community a different feel from Southaven and Olive Branch.

If Hernando is on your relocation list, spend a Saturday morning at the market and then explore the surrounding area.

S.G. GOODMAN
October 6, 2026
Proud Larry's | Oxford, Mississippi

Oxford's fall calendar gets going with live music at one of the city's longtime music venues.

S.G. Goodman is scheduled to perform at Proud Larry's on October 6.

Oxford has a real estate market all its own, influenced in part by the University of Mississippi, the Oxford Square and continued residential development throughout Lafayette County.

If you're considering moving to Oxford, don't limit your visit to campus and the Square.

Explore the residential areas too.

THE HAYLEY WILLIAMS SHOW
October 12, 2026
BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove | Southaven

Southaven gets another major entertainment event on October 12 when The Hayley Williams Show comes to BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove with Magdalena Bay and Rico Nasty.

The concert is currently scheduled to begin at 7 PM.

Snowden Grove is one of the major entertainment and recreation destinations in Southaven, and events at the amphitheater are another example of why buyers shouldn't think of North Mississippi simply as an extension of Memphis.

There's plenty happening on this side of the state line too.

ELEVATE OLIVE BRANCH
October 14, 2026
Olive Branch, Mississippi

Olive Branch's calendar includes Elevate OB on October 14.

Community and business events may not attract the attention of a major concert, but they're useful for someone trying to understand a community.

Olive Branch continues to be an important part of the DeSoto County housing market, offering buyers a mixture of established neighborhoods, newer residential development and properties extending toward more spacious areas of North Mississippi.

23RD ANNUAL MEMPHIS TRI-STATE BLUES FESTIVAL
October 17, 2026
Landers Center | Southaven

The blues aren't stopping at the Tennessee state line.

The 23rd Annual Memphis Tri-State Blues Festival is scheduled for October 17 at the Landers Center in Southaven.

The event begins at 6:30 PM.

For anyone relocating to the Memphis metropolitan area, events like this are another reminder that Tennessee and North Mississippi are deeply connected.

People regularly cross the state line for work, entertainment, shopping, restaurants and everyday life.

TUNNEL TO TOWERS 5K RUN & WALK
October 17, 2026
Hernando Civic Center at Renasant Park | Hernando

Hernando also has an active October 17 calendar.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K Run & Walk is scheduled from 9 AM until noon at the Hernando Civic Center at Renasant Park.

Combine the event with the Hernando Farmers Market happening the same day and you've got a pretty good excuse to spend a Saturday getting to know Hernando.

DON'T STOP ME NOW: A CELEBRATION OF ROCK MUSICALS
October 20, 2026
Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts | Oxford

Oxford's Ford Center brings Broadway and rock together on October 20.

Don't Stop Me Now: A Celebration of Rock Musicals is scheduled for 7:30 PM and features music associated with major rock-influenced musicals.

For relocating buyers, the University of Mississippi adds an arts, sports and entertainment calendar that distinguishes Oxford from many other North Mississippi communities.

CLUE, THE PLAY
October 22, 2026
Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts | Oxford

Two days later, the Ford Center hosts CLUE, The Play.

The October 22 performance begins at 7:30 PM.

If you're considering Oxford real estate, events at the Ford Center are another reason to explore more than the Square during your visit.

SOUTHEASTERN RODEO ASSOCIATION FINALS
October 23–24, 2026
DeSoto County Agri-Education Center

North Mississippi gets a completely different kind of entertainment October 23 and 24 when the 2026 Southeastern Rodeo Association Finals come to the DeSoto County Agri-Education Center.

Two nights of rodeo competition are scheduled, with rodeo action beginning at 7:30 PM each night.

DRU HILL WITH GINUWINE, NEXT & TROOP
October 24, 2026
BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove | Southaven

If '90s and early-2000s R&B is more your speed, Southaven has you covered.

Dru Hill is scheduled to perform October 24 at BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove with Ginuwine, Next and Troop.

The concert begins at 7 PM.

OXFORD WITCHES RIDE
October 26, 2026
Oxford, Mississippi

Here's one of the more unusual events on the calendar.

The Oxford Witches Ride benefiting The Pantry returns October 26.

Participants take to their bicycles for a Halloween-themed ride through Oxford, with the ride scheduled to begin at 6:15 PM.

It's exactly the kind of local event you probably wouldn't discover by simply searching houses online.

SCARE ON THE TANGER SQUARE
October 30, 2026
Tanger Outlets | Southaven

North Mississippi heads into Halloween weekend with Scare on the Tanger Square in Southaven.

The event is scheduled for October 30 from 5 PM until 8 PM.

And the following morning, October 31, Hernando's Farmers Market is scheduled for another Saturday market.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS BEGIN IN DECEMBER

North Mississippi's event calendar doesn't end when October does.

Southaven and Olive Branch are already showing Christmas events for December 5.

Southaven's Christmas Parade is scheduled for 10 AM, followed by Santa's Workshop Family Craft Festival.

Olive Branch's Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2 PM that afternoon.

That means someone planning a December relocation visit could potentially experience holiday events in multiple DeSoto County communities during the same weekend.

WHY I RECOMMEND EVENTS TO RELOCATION CLIENTS

When you're relocating, you're probably going to spend hours researching houses.

Do yourself a favor:

Spend some time researching the PLACE too.

Attend a farmers market in Hernando.

Catch a concert in Southaven.

Spend an evening in Oxford.

Explore Olive Branch.

Drive through the neighborhoods between your destinations instead of immediately getting back on the interstate.

Grab lunch somewhere local.

Then start asking yourself practical questions.

How far is this property from the places I'll actually go?

What does the surrounding area look like?

What kind of home can I purchase here compared with another community?

Do I want an established neighborhood, new construction, acreage, a historic home, a condo or something else entirely?

Those questions are far more useful than trying to determine which city someone on the internet says is "best."

NORTH MISSISSIPPI ISN'T ONE REAL ESTATE MARKET

This is important if you're relocating here.

Southaven, Olive Branch, Hernando, Oxford, Senatobia, Horn Lake and the rural areas between them do not offer identical real estate.

Southaven puts you immediately adjacent to Memphis.

Olive Branch offers established neighborhoods alongside continued residential development.

Hernando combines a historic town center with subdivisions, newer homes and opportunities to search farther into DeSoto County.

Senatobia takes you farther south along I-55 into Tate County, where your search can include larger lots, land and acreage depending on inventory.

Oxford has a distinct market influenced by the University of Mississippi, its historic downtown, condos, townhomes, luxury homes and continued development throughout Lafayette County.

And that's exactly why I don't believe in starting a relocation search by telling someone where they SHOULD live.

Let's compare the actual options.

MOVING FROM MEMPHIS TO MISSISSIPPI?

You don't have to choose your state before you choose your house.

I'm a REALTOR® licensed in BOTH Mississippi and Tennessee.

That means if you're trying to decide between Southaven and Memphis, Olive Branch and Collierville, Hernando and communities farther north — we can look at the actual real estate on both sides of the state line.

We can compare property types, available inventory, lot sizes, new construction, proximity to the destinations important to you and your individual budget.

Then YOU decide what makes the most sense.
